Exhibition Director Verena Zimmermann says: “For more than two decades, Giardina has been an annual highlight for tens of thousands of visitors. I am delighted to be able to bring the popular gardening event back into bloom at the start of spring this year and to once again provide the gardening industry and its creative power with a grand stage.”

As part of its 2023 “Green up the City” special show on the theme of urban gardening, Giardina and its partner VEG and the City will be showcasing innovative ideas and products for planting urban balconies and terraces on an area of over 600m2. Says Zimmermann: “It has become noticeable how much people in cities long for green spaces – Urban Gardening offers impressive solutions with which even the smallest balconies can be transformed into green, unique, even edible oases.”

Gudrun Ongania, Managing Director of VEG and the City, is convinced that “with the special show on urban gardening, she (can) pass on our philosophy even better to the visitors. Nature is close to our hearts. Whether on a small city balcony or a large terrace: an edible, insect-friendly dream garden is possible anywhere! Biodiversity starts at home. This will be shown at this unique special exhibition and visitors will be encouraged to participate.

In the Giardina Style exhibition area, visitors will be inspired by the fusion of nature, architecture and design. Every year, Switzerland’s best garden designers create impressive 1:1 garden works of art especially for Giardina, and experts present creative and high-quality solutions for gardens, pergolas, terraces and balconies in a curated setting.

A diverse range of plants, floral creations, decorative elements, lighting technology and irrigation options, as well as gourmet products from international brands and BBQ offerings, are on offer in the Giardina Market exhibition area.

“Nature – City – Us” lecture series
