The initiators, trade fair entrepreneur Sven Eisenhut and gallery owner and curator Fabian J. Walter, want to create a new stage for the Swiss art market with the “Art Salon Zurich” and break through established art dogmas and fixed structures. “We deliberately expose ourselves to fair competition, want to give young art and as yet little-known positions a platform and do so without any judgement,” explains curator Fabian J. Walter. “The driving force of the exhibition is the passion, dynamism and creativity of the artists.

It is aimed at a young, open-minded audience and at the same time the entire art community. Art should not be the preserve of the establishment, but should appeal to a broad, interested community. The “Art Salon Zurich” takes place on the SBB site in Zurich Altstetten. The ideal location for the art fair is the programme. Because the track area between the main station and Altstetten is one of the last significant development areas in the city of Zurich.

Facts & Figures about the Art Salon Zurich

Founded in 2022, Art Salon Zürich will be held as an autumn fair at the SBB Areal Zürich Altstetten. The city’s development area is programmed to host an art fair for the first time. The basic idea is to actively promote art and to support an active cultural policy for Switzerland as an art location. The fair shows contemporary art in particular on 1000 m2 of hall space and 700 m2 of tent space. The organisers want to give galleries and artists, but also a broad, interested art community, a platform for modern, exciting and collectible contemporary art. The founders and organisers of Art Salon Zurich are Sven Eisenhut, an exhibition entrepreneur from Basel, and Fabian J. Walter, a gallery owner and curator from Basel who runs his own art gallery in Zurich.
