Wine connoisseurs grow their own wines.
25.08.2025Are you a wine connoisseur and would you like to serve your own excellent wines in future? Would you like to spoil and impress your guests with treasures from your own vineyard? Then you should definitely take a look at the four exquisite vineyards that Christie’s International Real Estate recently featured in its online magazine Luxury Defined and has put up for sale.
And you will certainly welcome the sultry summer heat of August, the season of veraison, when growers see the swelling grapes soften and change colour from their infant green.
In honour of veraison, Luxury Defined presents a portfolio of properties for the true, wine-loving do-it-yourselfer: luxury vineyard estates in the languid, lush, and lazy summerlands of the world’s great wine regions.
And these are the four gems that most people can only dream of – perhaps over a glass of fine wine:
Montepulciano Wine Estate in Tuscany, Italy
According to Luxury Defined “the estate spans 63 hectares (155 acres), with 18.5 hectares (45 acres) of dedicated DOCG vineyard with an annual output of 125,000 bottles. The agriturismo‘s hospitality extends to 34 bedrooms, 37 bathrooms, a restaurant, an olive grove, and a resort-grade swimming pool. The luxurious guest quarters occupy three spacious farmhouses and a one-bedroom guest house, all in brick and native stone.
The central farmhouse, dating from the 18th century, provides eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Its ground floor houses the main 40-seat reception room and the restaurant, with 130 seats inside, 40 seats on the veranda, and 100 seats in the garden, all served by a professional kitchen.”
Boutique Vineyard in Entre-Deux-Mers, Bordeaux, France
According to Christie’s International Real Estate “this established wine estate near Bordeaux’s famous Right Bank appellation of Saint-Émilion combines a working vineyard with a high-end hospitality business.
The main residence is a grand, fully furnished château of approximately 1,098 square meters (11,818 square feet) with several lounges, a cocktail bar, a dining room, kitchen, and office. The orangery reception hall can accommodate up to 180 guests, making it suitable for weddings, seminars, and other grand-scale events.
The guest rooms can accommodate up to 45 guests in double occupancy. Ten bedrooms (nine en suite) are in the main house, and the additional suites are divided between three guest houses and a two-bedroom apartment.”
17th-Century-Quinta in Cabeceiras de Basto, Braga, Portugal
This 17th-century quinta basks within the pastoral landscape of Cabeceiras de Basto, a sub-region of the Vinho Verde – Portugal’s largest wine-growing region. The land extends to about 5 hectares (12.35 acres) of vineyards, orchards, olive and chestnut groves, and a natural spring.
The farmhouse has been restored in keeping with its period grandeur. The stone façade encloses grand reception rooms with beamed cathedral ceilings, thick stone walls, wood floors, and raised fireplaces.
The open-concept layout on the main level is ideal for a hospitality venture. The formal living and dining spaces open to a vast stone terrace with a view across the rolling countryside. This level also features a games room, study/library, and traditional country kitchen with a raised, wood-fired oven.
Wine Resort and Country Retreat in Mallorca, Spain
The complex extends to about 25 hectares (60 acres) and includes several interconnected buildings: The main house has a commercial kitchen, several barbecue stations, indoor and outdoor lounging and dining spaces, and an expansive pool and deck with a bar.
There are currently two guest houses with a combined 16 suites. Three finca houses are under construction, each will offer four additional bedrooms and self-contained accommodations, all connected by internal pathways.
