Flowers to Arts at the Aargauer Kunsthaus.

03.03.2026

There are many signs that spring is coming to Switzerland in March. After 12 years, the exhibition “Flowers to Art” at the Aargauer Kunsthaus has become an almost traditional sign of the arrival of warmer weather. Master florists engage in dialogue with selected works from the collection through their floral interpretations. For the first time this year, the exhibition will be accompanied by musical interludes.

The exhibition runs until 8 March 2026 and is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Thursdays until 8 p.m.

Floral and visual art

After the long winter, the first blossoming branches, grasses and flowers at the Aargauer Kunsthaus are a welcome sign of the awakening year.

In Flowers to Arts, florists and floral designers engage in dialogue with the works from the collection. They spin out the artists’ ideas, take up stories, colours and forms, and counter them with new thoughts. Flower arrangements and works of visual art begin to oscillate with each other.

New: Sketching workshops

In floristry, as in the visual arts, sketching is a relevant form of expression. Sketching workshops are a new element this year and explore drawing in the exhibition. Visitors can discover further offerings in the varied accompanying programme.

The tandem tours, which offer in-depth insights into art and floristry, are very popular. The newly developed musical intermezzos, featuring songs such as Love is a Lilly by composer and singer Caroline Ferrara, provide a special access to the exhibition.

A painting by Barbara Müller as key visual

Every year, the Aargauer Kunsthaus and the Flowers to Arts association, which organises the exhibition, select works of art that are interpreted with flowers and plants in order to present them in all their splendour.

This year’s key visual is a painting by Aargau artist Barbara Müller (1956–2023). Florist Rémy Jaggi from Trélex was inspired by the finely tuned colour fields to create his harmonious interpretation. Other selected florists develop creations that later touch thousands of people.
